Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell, an American television chef and an former Institute of Culinary Education instructor She is also a television personality. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as the host of Worst Cooks in America. With her signature spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of food in restaurants and shares simple, easy-to-master recipes to the home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked at various top eateries in New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy and competed in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for food and cooking at very young. She pursued her love of the industry of restaurant management by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English and communication from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute Of America student. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every day." I was never able to learn or do enough. After graduation, chef Burrell took a gap year to Italy studying at an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners during her time at La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a 1 Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. The chef gained an understanding of Italian culture and cuisine while in Italy that has informed her culinary style. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which aims to enrich children's lives who are facing problems. Additionally, she is a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity ambassador which promotes an awareness campaign on young-onset diabetes. Her travels are frequent across the United States in her position in the capacity of mentor as well as guest speaker where she discusses her professional life and the joy of cooking. Through the course of her cooking career, Anne has often said that I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to share my true passion within my life with other people.
