Anita Ekberg

Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen), 29 September 1931-11 January
2015) was an actress from Sweden, popular for her gorgeous body and stunning
beauty. Her performance as Sylvia in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita
(1960) was a hit and made her famous. Ekberg worked primarily in Italy before
becoming a permanent resident in 1964.Anita Ekberg was born on 29 September
1931 in (Sweden) she was the sixth of eight children. Anita worked as a fashion
model in her teenage years. Ekberg on the advice by her mother in 1950 began to
enter Miss Malmo. The contest was won by her in the Miss Sweden contest. Even
though she spoke little English, Ekberg went to the United States to compete in
the Miss Universe 1951 title. It was an official pageant in the year 1951. The
pageant was made official in 1952. Ekberg wasn't the Miss Universe winner, but
she was among six finalist. She did however earn a contract with Universal
Studios as a starlet. Ekberg was a Universal starlet where she was taught
dance, drama, and elocution. She was briefly featured in The Mississippi
Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello (as an actress in Venus), Take Me to Town
(1853), and The Golden Blade (1953).
