Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff was born on May 3, 1986.
She was a student at the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris. Her role
includes Loup (2009) as well as Sleepless Night (2011). She is the voice of
Mantis, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
(2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom
Klementieff was born in Quebec City, Canada, to her Korean mother and
French-Russian father, who worked there as a consul with the French government.
Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her grandpa. Pom was her nickname because it
sounds like the Korean words "spring" and 'tiger" in Korean.
Klementieff stayed in Canada for a time of one year, before her family went on
a long trip due to her father's job. Before moving to France the family resided
in Japan and also on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff's father died of cancer at
the age of 5 and her mother was suffering from schizophrenia and was incapable
of caring for children, so Klementieff was raised by her aunt and uncle who were
paternal. Her uncle, whom she said in her own words as "like her first
father," died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. The older brother of her
took his own life seven years later. This time, it was on the 25th anniversary
of her birth. Following the death of her uncle, Klementieff was a law student
for a brief time to delight her aunt. However, she did not think the path was
appealing. In France, she worked as a waitresse and saleswoman. At the Cours
Florent drama academy in Paris the actress began her journey into acting at the
age of 19. It was only a few months in studying when she won the competition to
be a part of the theater that provided her two years of tuition with the
school's best teachers. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of Catherine Deneuve
in Apres lui (2006) and was her first acting job professionally. Three days
were spent filming her scenes. The plan was for Klementieff to push another
person down a set staircase and then fall to the ground. Gael Mostl kept the
shot in the final film. Her debut lead role came in Loup (2009), a French film
about a group of reindeer herders living in the Siberian mountains. During
filming, Klementieff stayed in a tent, a long way away from the nearest village
where temperatures dropped to below zero.
