Thora Birch

Thora Birch (born March 11, 1982) is an American producer and actress. Her debut in film was in Purple People Eater (1988), for which she won an Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age". Birch was a child actor who was in films like All I Want For Christmas (1991) as well as Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995) as well as Alaska (1996). The actress received a Young Artistic Award in the category of "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film brought her an BAFTA nomination. After that, she starred in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Birch was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance in Homeless To Harvard: The Liz Murray Story in 2003. Birch has also been a part of Dungeons & Dragons (2000) (2001), The Hole (2004), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006) and Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009). Birch was also the Whisperer Mary/Gamma in the season 10 episode of The Walking Dead (2019-202). Birch, Jack Birch's eldest son was born in Los Angeles. Birch her family's initial surname was Biersch was of German-Jewish, Scandinavian, French-Canadian and Italian heritage. "Thora" is her birth name. It's derived from the Norse god Thor thunder and lightning. If it were a boy, she would have had the full name. Kian Bolt Birch, her younger brother, is also her mother. Both of them were adult film actors and were both in Deep Throat. They were not keen to support Thora because of their experiences in the entertainment business. But an infantsitter saw Thora performing commercials in a similar way and got them to show Thora's photo to agents. Birch was just four years old when she had her first major break when the babysitter took her to audition for an Quaker Oats advertisement.
